Meet Dr. Pamela Brewer: A Trusted Voice in Mental and Emotional Health

Dr. Pamela Brewer is a Board-Certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker and award-winning mental health advocate with more than thirty years of clinical experience. In 2016, she was honored with the Distinguished Alumna Award from the New York University Silver School of Social Work for her pioneering work in mental health and relationship awareness programming.

Dr. Brewer earned her MSW in Clinical Social Work from NYU, where she graduated with honors and became the first African-American and first social work student to deliver the Student Address at commencement before 10,000 attendees. She later received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the Union Institute and University.
A seasoned clinician, educator, and community leader, Dr. Brewer has taught and supervised at institutions including Brooklyn College, the University of Maryland School of Social Work, and George Mason University. She has appeared widely on local and national media discussing issues such as trauma, depression, elder abuse, domestic violence, and healthy relationships.
Dr. Brewer is also the creator and host of MyNDTALK with Dr. Pamela Brewer, a groundbreaking relationship and mental health program she founded in 1995.
M.E.S.H. in the beginning...
MyNDTALK with Dr. Pamela Brewer aired as live radio on WPFW – 89.3 FM Radio from the mid-90s to late 2021. MyNDTALK now returns as M.E.S.H. with Dr Pamela Brewer in 2025. The initial mission of providing respectful, quality mental health/relationship health conversations continues.
MyNDTALK featured a wide range of guests who discussed post-traumatic growth, grief, domestic violence, online games/activities that hurt children, relationship health, self-esteem growth, and so much more. MyNDTALK was the place to meet a range of authors, including Charlotte Pierce-Baker, who discussed her experiences raising a sonwith bipolar disorder, Nancy Pickard, who discussed her book “Bigger, Better, Braver” and strategies for overcoming limitations and finding courage.
Eliza Factor discussed disability and its complexities, a Mormon wife who escaped the life she found limiting, and found a life of her own took us through her harrowing attempts to leave her religion. We met the grieving 9-11 widow who crafted a way to give back, and the therapist who wrote about her relationship with a married man, the introvert who opened our eyes to the different forms of introversion and how to have a relationship with an introvert.
